Liz Krcma died very early in the New Year. She was on an artist’s residency at the International Ceramics Research Institute at Guldagergaard ( www.ceramic.dk )until the end of November 2011, and subsequently got a place on the Kunstnerprojektet KIT in Skaelskor, which is a project subsidised by the Danish Govt., designed to attract professional artists and musicians to work there in that beautiful town . Liz was in the first group of four – a vanguard if you like – and the aim is to have about 25 people involved there eventually.

It is understood that Liz had a seizure from which she did not regain consciousness.  Two years previously,  she  had her first stroke which set her back a bit. Liz showed enormous fortitude had been making great progress, and had been continuing her ceramics career.

A memorial service took place on Saturday at Sancreed Village Hall near Penzance, Cornwall. Her ashes were buried in Sancreed.

Liz worked at Stokes Croft China for the inaugural show in 2009, producing some exquisite pieces of ware,
which remain a testament to her skills as a ceramicist.

Above:  some examples of the beautiful silhouette prints that Liz hand cut for decoration of the ware.

Above: Decorated figurines  that took their form from Barbie dolls. These figurines were so popular that we had many more stolen than we ever sold!

Above: This is Liz ‘s pottery mark that signified that a piece of ware was decorated by her own hand.
