Young Bean goes out every month with his Mum and the rest of Love Bristol (A local faith-based organisation) and helps to keep the Croft’s lovely (But sadly not recycling) yellow bins in tip-top shape.. Imagine his consternation last week when he discovered that one of the bins had been re-painted black… When he was told that it was the Council what done it, he was very upset, but set about his work with vim and vigour…beanpaintWP

As soon as he had finished, he headed up the road to carry on with his work… Tears followed when he discovered that SIX bins had been replaced with horrid new black plastic bins…

“Mummy”, he cried, “Why have those people from the Council changed these bins when they did it before only about nine months ago?  Why haven’t they replaced them with the recycling bins we have been begging for for over two years now? ” As tears drolled down his cheeks, he whimpered, “Don’t they know that the World is in a pickle, and that if we don’t look after the planet, us young ‘uns won’t have much to look forward to… ”  His tiny voice tailed off as he whispered, “I wonder how many ice creams we could have got for the cost of those silly bins?”

If you also wonder how many ice creams you could have got for the price of six bins installed for no apparent reason, and against the expressed wishes of the local community, please e-mail jan.ormondroyd@bristol.gov.uk , jon.rogers@bristol.gov.uk and mark.wright@bristol.gov.uk

These are nice people, and they will surely know the right answers, because they are in authority, and our Council would not do things that the People do not want…
