The Bristol scroll will be well known to anybody over forty. The City’s name was carried in this form by every bus in the city and its surrounding areas from 1965 until the mid 1980s.
Continuing the theme of the importance of local culture, PRSC presents an exhibition of portraits by local artists of the people who live work and play in Stokes Croft.
On the night of October 14th, PRSC put up 20 panels in the subways of the Bear Pit. The materials were funded by Destination Bristol, who, to their credit, had no control of the content of the work, which was decided by local artists working to the loosest of briefs.
Better late than never – the latest work from Stokes Croft Murals in the communal rooms at Kings Square Studios – artwork by ASK: 3-Dom, sepr and epok
The PRSC Crew have been busy turning our piece of wasteland into a fully functional, multi-purpose yard, a space from which we can build.
Recently the famous and well-loved piece on Albert Park, Montpelier, (Apparently) was dogged… A large white emulsion tag effectively wrecking this landmark…
last week, the piece was comprehensively sorted, Feek, 3-dom, Sepr and Soker( and others?) creating a real tour de force, a worthy replacement for the damaged work.
A sweet little piece by 3-Dom, to be found down Picton Lane, just behind the Bristolian Caff.
Practice wall: Still up (Dec.
The splendid mural by 3-Dom and Voyder, which graces the upper elevations of the new building on the former site of Mary’s junk shop on Stokes Croft, can now be seen in all its glory, since the removal of the scaffolding that has masked it since last year.
Despite the attempted invasion of the Croft by Tesco, The looming Westmoreland House Public Inquiry, and Mr. Chalkey’s impending Criminal Damage Trial, some top drawer street painting continues to brighten the days here in Stokes Croft.
January is not done, the weather has been the worst for thirty years, but the painting continues unabated. Proof if any were needed of the burning desire of local artists to make of Stokes Croft a gallery… Over the next two months , we will be canvassing locals, businesses, property owners to ascertain whether Stokes Croft is heading in a good direction…and inviting participation.
