We have just been passed this press release from the “No Tesco in Stokes Croft” campaign from Claire Milne.
Campaign Update!
We have been asked to pass on the “Phone Tree” number 07794894353 by the people squatting in the Former Jesters building.

After five days of cut and thrust between Opecprime Development Ltd., the owners and potential developers of the Westmoreland House site, and Bristol City Council, Stokes Croft must wait six weeks for the decision of Government Inspector, Elizabeth Fieldhouse.
Saturday Feb. 27, 1010.
The Westmoreland House Public Inquiry started at 10am on Thursday 25th Feb.
After two days of sitting, it will recommence on Tuesday at 9.30am, when the views of the local Community will be heard.
Portraying the reality of the Jesters Squat, this film also highlights the aggressive behaviour of the Tesco operatives who sought to evict the squatters by force.
LoveBristol would like to invite you to a CONSULTATION EVENT at which they are
gathering responses to their draft masterplan for the WESTMORELAND HOUSE and
Carriageworks site – an alternative scheme for regenerating this site, completely different from any other proposal by anyone so far.
Clarification: We understand that the lease for Jesters Comedy Club was sold to Tesco by BDO Stoy Hayward as offical receivers.
The March took place on 13.02. 10, marking the beginning of the Community’s resistance
to the possibility of a Tesco store in Stokes Croft/ Montpelier.
The People of Stokes Croft, Montpelier and beyond took to the streets on Saturday afternoon, thus demonstrating the depth of feeling at the the possibility of Tesco spreading its unwelcome influence into this area of the City.
