Proof if any were needed of the burning desire of local artists to make of Stokes Croft a gallery… Over the next two months , we will be canvassing locals, businesses, property owners to ascertain whether Stokes Croft is heading in a good direction…and inviting participation.

MAKE A SALEABLE ART WORK AND BECOME A PART OF THE P.R.S.C.’s PAINT EXPERIMENT
Expanding on the P.R.S.C.’S already established outdoor gallery concept – which uses street art to re-invigorate the area – Paint Experiment will facilitate the creation of saleable Artworks in the public domain, requiring the participation of the community as: artists, buyers and curators.

This joyful little piece went up on Sunday… Of course, we have no idea who did it…
It is exactly the way forward, however… Gentle, whimsical and witty, it turns a part of the Croft that is previously unconsidered, into a canvas, a visual attraction.
At the end of Dighton Street are two panels that have been regularly tagged for the longest time, and have been regularly painted over (Badly) by our Council’s very own “Clean and Green” Anti-Graffiti team… We prepared the walls properly, scraping away debris, and sweeping away all dirt and dust before applying a coat of high quality masonry paint.
In the midst of all the splendid works springing up all around the Croft, occasionally strange, less positive things happen. saturday night, the beautiful Voyder/3-Dom lady’s face on Stokes Croft was trashed by person or persons unknown.
The PRSC Summer Dutch Auction opened on 24th July, and runs all summer. The work changes continually, showcasing local talent and offering the opportunity to own very, very affordable Art… No need to buy mass produced stuff from Habitat or IKEA… The goods are right here, and all sales will be split between PRSC and the artist…

This splendid piece sprung up last Wednesday night… And that it has passed almost unnoticed is arguably its strength.. Nestling between Slix Hamburgers and the Hairdressers, this abandoned shopfront is brought back to life… its Sweeney Todd theme is pertinent and site specific, positive for the area, and well executed…
