A short film from the PRSC Youtube site. A fire started in a skip conveniently situated beneath the City Road advertising hoarding. The flames grew quickly, causing the hoarding to catch fire. It is not known if the fire was started deliberately. The advertising hoarding is due to disappear this year, and the corner will become a public space, designed by artists. There is a £60, 000 budget for this work, the cash originating from S106 money, i.e. money that developers pay, to facilitate Community works, when they proceed with a development. In this case, the money comes from the development of the former VW/Audi Trade centre, across the road from the Polish Church.
The winner of the competition for this work, organised by BCC, and advertised nationally, is to be announced presently. It is to be hoped that the winners are local…
