Dear Denise,
I would like to express my anger and disappointment at the news of Chris Chalkley being found guilty of criminal damage regarding the sign he painted onto the 5102 building.
Chris Chalkley stood trial on Friday 12th March, 2010, accused of criminal damage, having painted a sign that said “Welcome to Stokes Croft, Cultural Quarter, Conservation area, Outdoor Gallery” on the front of the 5102 building, which is a gated community at the bottom of Stokes Croft.

PRSC received three telephone calls from concerned residents around 9am this morning (March 1oth), informing us that the wooden flowers that had been made by Jamie Gillman and placed at the bottom of Stokes Croft and at the end of Dighton Street were being loaded into a van by Council Contractors.
Ziml and Deamze painted Uplands Audio’s shutters last Sunday. The deal was: Nick, owner of Uplands paid for materials, and Ziml and Deamze got to paint what they wanted.
As the days lengthen, the demand for sites to paint increases. Stokes Croft’s growing reputation for Artistic Excellence in its public spaces means that people are queuing to paint here.

After five days of cut and thrust between Opecprime Development Ltd., the owners and potential developers of the Westmoreland House site, and Bristol City Council, Stokes Croft must wait six weeks for the decision of Government Inspector, Elizabeth Fieldhouse.
